HT-1 Tuesday- 0

Tuesday. My Arch nemesis. 9 out of 10 times Tuesday wraps its wretched tentacle like appendages around my esophagus and squeezes the life right out of me. I hate Tuesday. Today I decided to retaliate. I'm putting my foot down you stupid day. No longer will you control 1/7th of my week. Not on my watch pal. Go talk to Friday or Saturday and ask how a real day is done properly.

The week started out with 1/3 of the HT's paternal unit in town. Zac's mom Nancy graced us with her presence. It's not hard to see where Zac get's his lava filled veins and puma like persona. When you’re cut from the same mold as Nancy you automatically shoot photons from your eye sockets. The week started Monday night. We observed dinner at a tranquil yet packed Italian restaurant called Monza. Erica being "Hella Tight" brought 2 bottles of wine that were each blessed on Mt. Olympus by Zeus himself then sent to earth via lightning bolt and ended up in her purse then a carafe of domination. For h'orderves we had bone marrow spread on some type of bread. Maybe foccaccia or baguette. We also engaged in some brochette topped with humus made of mashed up white beans. Not being a foos connoisseur of any sort I must admit the starters nailed it. We ordered pizza for the entree. We had 3 types. One was topped with goat cheese and lentils another had a fried egg and greens and my favorite was the meatball and bacon pizza duuuh. We crushed every slice and polished off our Chianti then pursued back to Z's crib for jokes

It's been about a 10 year hiatus since I last saw Nancy and she looks every bit the same as I remember her. And if you ever want to know what a lady should act like and what the epitome of a sweetheart is tear a page out of her book. Just a class act that for sure knows how to treat a gent. They rarely make them like that anymore. Erica is probably the first lady I've met here in L.A... Keep it up E.
Back to Tuesday. The villain in my weekly schedule. I woke up at a descent hour with not a lot to do. Work has taken an absolute deuce on me forcing me to find another job with a salary, benefits, 401k, and actual consistent business so i can't complain but I start on Monday so I joined Nancy, Z and Erica for a little Tuesday domination session. We kicked off the day going to the Los Angeles Observatory. It's actually about 1/2 a mile from where we live in Los Feliz on top of a hill and is a giant Pantheon looking building that is surrounded by scenic views of L.A. We snapped a few moments in time, observed L.A. from afar, admired and were inspired by the Hollywood sign then preceded on our way. We stopped for lunch at a restaurant called Home. Its consensus the best place we have found in L.A. so far.

A few weeks back Zac and I checked out a few open houses in our neighborhood. It was a pretty good time and we saw some awesome places so we thought we would show Nance around a bit. We saw 3 houses in our direct neighborhood ranging from 1.24-1.3. The second to last house was about .25 miles away and was for sale for 1.3 or for lease for $6,500. We thought about pooling our rents together and finding a few other roommates to join in and make it a "Hella Tight" crib but then just figured we would ride out our current leases and link forces via habitat down the road. By this time it was close to Nancy's flight time so we departed for a bit only to link up about 2hrs later on the tennis courts. We mixed in about 2 solid hours of Australian style doubles. That's where you have 2 on one side of the court and one on the other and rotate. I think I sprained my face and forearm trying to return an Erica forehand but I'll just smoke through it. Z and I had to pop the tops to get these pasty Sac/N.Y. physiques some color. Children cried a bit but they settled down after I flexed in their grills a few times.

With Griffith Park tennis courts left a pile of rubble and ash we split to our respected quarters. Zac's been talking a big talk about how he is is some sort of chef and we have gone a pretty good time since he's flashed the skillet skills. We know he can hook up possibly one of the top 3 breakfasts I've ever had but dinner entrees have yet to be seen. Well I'll just say for a simple New York steak dinner equipped with asparagus, mushrooms, hand crafted marinade of garlic clove siracca olive oil and maybe rosemary and some surf on a stick aka shrimp skewers marinated in before said marinade the deal came out not to shabby. Prett, pretty, pretty, pretty impressed. This jew kid knows his way around a skillet and I am not someone to front. HT wins again.

  1. Rhymes with abomination? (domination). Duh. I've tried to resist hella tightness, but alas, it's not to be. You are hella tight. And every superlative you attributed to Nancy was dead on. Good woman. An inspiration to all of us single guys.

  2. Moms was definitely a solid addition to the HT for a couple days. She must have been what inspired us to take Tuesday head on and crush it to smithereens. Thanks for the compliments, D. And thanks for the follow-up CW.

  3. Nance is deffinitely an inspiration to us single guys. There have to be some left like her. Im thinking Nancy, my mom, my gram, Aunt Jan and Michelle should have formed a Vultron babe of destruction.

  4. Tuesday cried itself to sleep last night. What does it expect after being soo lame for soo long? It was about time we put our foot down.

It takes a special person to seamlessly join the HT for food, drinks, and general adventures. Nancy was a natural. She might be the coolest mom of any friend I know. As far as I'm concerned, Z's coolness, good taste and expansive palate were never questioned but after meeting Nancy itsuddenly makes perfect sense. I can only imagine what his papasan is like. I'm extending an open invitation to Nancy to join the HT whenever she likes.

I'm also extending an open invitation for Z to cook for D and I. The simple shrimp marinade was a good start. After all the cooking hype I need extensive evidence and more intricate examples of his culinary prowess. The kitchen is outfitted and ready to go. Scampans abound. The hulk arrives at 9pm.
